Coasters holder pattern coming soon!

Info you need and frequently asked questions + making chunky yarn from regular yarn

My dears, I get many questions about the pattern for coasters holder.
I'm working on it, almost everything is ready. I've already received feedback from my tester! So I can tell you that it will be available for you on Monday!

If you want to get ready for it now, look for the cord in the right color, etc. Look at the information below with answers to frequently asked questions.

  • Pattern will be available on Etsy, in two versions:

    • beginner-friendly file with 47 pages, 139 photos illustrating individual steps. Slow videos included.

    • file for more advanced users - 13 pages and 50 photos showing more difficult steps or the appearance of work after a given step. (If in doubt, you can easily jump to a longer file - the step numbering is the same)

Both versions available in standard US or UK terms.

  • Using this pattern, you will be able to make a holder for any number of coasters - you decide!

  • The pattern also includes instructions for making a multicolored holder and a section on blocking the finished work.

  • The pattern for the coasters will also be part of this pattern because only you - subscribers of my newsletter - received it for free.

  • This is a pattern for coasters and holder made of 3mm thick braided cord and can also be made with 3 strands of DK yarn. (How to crochet with 3 strands using one ball - check my video here: https://youtu.be/5v5xXpPMBFY  you can make chunky yarn this way 😉 )

The holder with coasters made of cord (left) compared to the holder with coasters made of 3 strands of DK yarn (right)

  • You will need:

    • 3mm braided cotton cord or DK yarn (DK yarn is one for which, according to the label, a 4mm crochet hook is used) See the tables below to estimate how much cord or yarn you need

    • Sharp scissors

    • Crochet hook 7mm (or 8mm)

    • Plastic needle or smaller crochet hook e.g. 5 or 6mm (use one of these to weave in the ends)

    • + If you want labels: Needle, thread and labels 😊

  • Size:

    • The diameter of the finished coaster will be between 9.0cm and 10cm (3.5in-3.9in)

    • The diameter of the finished basket holder will be between 10.5cm and 12,5cm (4,1in-4.9in)

On the left - holder for 6 coasters, on the right -holder for 4 coasters

I am often asked what cords I use and I recommend:

  • I most often use Bilibag factory cords - but their warehouse is in the UK and shipping to other countries may take a long time.

  • I also often use Bobbiny cords - they have warehouses in many countries and shipping is faster (and cheaper).

    Also, check their Etsy shops.

  •  You can also search for what is available in your area, e.g. on Amazon, by entering "braided cotton cord" or "macrame braided cord", etc. If they are described as 3 mm thick, they should not differ significantly. You will find these cords more often in the macramé materials category.

Psst! On the day of release, as my newsletter subscriber, you will again receive a promo code 😉

If you want to ask me something, just reply to this email and I will be happy to answer. 😃

Have a great day!
