Square Napkin Basket pattern coming soon!
Update on my crochet life and pattern information
Hi,
I hope you are doing well and taking time for yourself, that the weather is nice and you are having a lovely time. And I hope you've crocheted something great lately! 🧶
I've had a very busy time recently - as you could see on my Instagram, I was preparing for a huge market. I crocheted a lot of products, prepared a lot of DIY kits (of which I have a lot left this time and I think some will appear on my Etsy in some time, but I won't talk about that right now) and did many other side preparations. What can I say - I was tired of these preparations. And I could have done a little less… But soon I'm going to visit my family for a week and then I'll rest a bit. 🥰
Some time ago I showed on Instagram and here in an e-mail the project I was working on - Square Napkin Basket. As soon as I showed it for the first time, you bombarded me with questions about the pattern (that's so nice!). It was inspired by my Grandma, who wanted one as a Christmas gift. As soon as I gave it to her, she started repeating that I should create such a product and pattern. And as I already said - you have to listen to your Grandma. So the pattern will be available later this week! 😁

Examples of baskets that can be made with this pattern - with and without handles
If you want to get ready for it now, look for the cord in the right color, etc. Look at the information below with answers to frequently asked questions.
- The pattern will guide you through making a basket with the internal dimensions of 17cm by 17cm (6,7 inch) (External dimensions approx. 20x20cm, 7.9x7.9inch) and a height determined by you. Such dimensions will allow you to store the most common napkins 13x13" (so 6.5" when folded in the package).
- In the pattern you will also find notes on how to change the width and length of the basket if you want to make a basket with different dimensions. With this pattern, you can create a square or rectangular basket with any dimensions you want, with or without handles.
- The pattern also includes instructions for attaching new cord after finishing one skein and a section on blocking the finished work.
- The PDF file has 19 pages, over 80 photos illustrating individual steps.
- Available in two files for download: Standard US or UK Terms used.
- Additional videos available (no cuts or speed-ups). In the pattern you will find annotations about specific parts of the videos relating to the steps.

In the photo, at the front you see a smaller basket than the one for napkins, I use it for various hair accessories. Napkin basket in the background. Both created using this pattern.
And here is what is needed:
- 5mm braided cotton cord
- Sharp scissors
- Crochet hook 10mm
- Plastic needle or smaller crochet hook e.g. 5 or 6mm (use one of this to weave in the ends)
- Stitch markers (or pieces of wool etc.)

I am often asked what cords I use and I recommend, so here is the reminder:
I most often use Bilibag factory cords - their warehouse is in the UK
This is the website of a UK bilibag cord seller: https://bilibagfactory.co.uk/
I also often use Bobbiny cords - they have warehouses in many countries, examples:
This is the website of a US bobbiny cord seller: https://bobbinycords.us/
This is the website of a UK bobbiny cord seller: https://bobbinycords.co.uk/
This is the website of a EU bobbiny cord seller https://shop.bobbiny.com/en/
Also, check their Etsy shops.
You can also search for what is available in your area, e.g. on Amazon, by entering "braided cotton cord" or "macrame braided cord", etc. If they are described as 3 mm thick (or 5mm for baskets), they should not differ significantly. You will find these cords more often in the macramé materials category.
Psst! On the day of release, as my newsletter subscriber, you will again receive an email with a promo code 😉
If you want to ask me something, just reply to this email and I will be happy to answer. 😃
Have a great day!
Iga
